Ore Detector

space engineers increase ore detector range

I'm interested in playing a game, not a sandbox. Explore asteroids with a large grid ship on hydrogen? This survival version is kind of like being back to that. That's only 3% of what it used to be. Large grid antennas' range are 50km at maximum power output. Just look for small patches, they often contain gold and silver. Then i won't mind the small ore detector radius.

More progression is more value. I've tried using rovers for scouting, but the area I'm in is so mountainous and uneven all I do is flip them, and there's no obvious why to flip them back right-side-up. I did the absolute minimum testing of this mod - I loaded it up, found some ore, checked the distance, nodded confidently, and posted it to the workshop. People do not actually build large planetary bases relying heavily on those energy sources. Perhaps only reading every voxel in an area that has been changed otherwise it simply reads a separate object file that only contains ore.

This exercise has demonstrated to me that this process is just not practical in a long-term sense. Yeah, more options would be nice. This would only require gold ideally. There has to be a better way to do it. Furthermore With the way things are currently, you are nearly forced to get into large ship designs during early space exploration before you even have any uranium or platinum simply because the range of the small ship detector is ridiculously, I mean ridiculously low - unnecessarily low, compared to what is practical in space. You can grind a bunch of it down and turn it into pretty nice little purpose-built flyer. I describe it as being more tedious, especially and basically only in the beginning.

I've talked on the steam discussion about this and several other people think that it could also have a charge up system for long range pings instead like jump drives and I think this would also be a fairly useful feature. I usually don't persist with playing survival, but this time around I decided to stick with it. The distance itself is 500m for small grid, 2000m for large grid. Then work up to a mining ring or a flyer. Which is fine, if it wasn't for the fact that you're likely going to abandon the planetary base as it will not be useful at all to a player who doesn't want a planetary base. It has a default detection radius of 50m. Like if this is scanning or something.

Nope; max range is unfortunately capped at 150 m for the large block, 50 m for the small block. It could be that it's not able to keep up with you, or that it's getting too slow to continue working. I usually have to hit 20 or so before I find good options for all. I have found the x2 to be a good improvement over the vanilla detector especially for small grids. My last three games started in mountains, one in an area so steep that wheels where impossible. Like you can adjes sensors you would also being able to detect ores. The need to constantly mine ice would be eliminated.

I imagine the game knows where all these deposits are anyway. Basically it seems my entire game has devolved into running around a planet with a drill in my hand hoping to find cobalt. Ore patches are almost always within 100 meters of the surface, and a lot is within 30 meters. Can you imagine the performance hit if half a dozen players lit up long-range ore detectors on a planet at the same time? This means I don't need to keep a ship in range of it. I agree with what you're saying, and I am currently trying to re-engineer the landing pod.

You can turn the landing pod into a flyer pretty easily. Assuming a list is kept for the composition of a given asteroid or chunk, this shouldn't introduce any noticeable overhead. You just doubled your ore detection range. If you've found a buried deposit but only got one metal out of it, resurvey the area; chances are you missed the other metals buried there. Players build space ships, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses, pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive. I then save as a creative game and fix the issue so i can continue with my survival game.
